Centenary Celebrations

On Monday 7th Janurary 2008, the students and staff at South Park Primary School spent the day finding out what life would have been like 100 years ago. We went back to Edwardian times and recreated what school life would have been like in January 1908 to mark the school's centenary.

Lessons were very different indeed - pupils spent the day perfecting their knowledge and application of the 3 Rs and were able to experience lessons without the use of computers, calculators or very many smiles from their teachers!

Many former pupils and ex-members of staff returned to South Park to mark this history day. Students visited a time capsule to place items about our school in 2008 inside. The time capsule will be buried within our school grounds with instructions for it to be opened in the year 2108. Our Chair of Governors planted a Centenary Tree to commemorate the day.

All students received a special souvenir of their day - a pencil case containing SPPS Centenary stationary items, as well as an authentic personalised attendance certificate. A photographer from the Ilford Recorder was in school to capture images for the next edition of the local newspaper.

Thank you to everyone for entering into the Edwardian spirit and making our Centenary Day such a memorable event!
